Ula Paua Shell was born from my passion for one of nature’s true treasures — the beautiful New Zealand Paua Shell.

With 37 years of experience in the jewellery trade, I’ve had the privilege of travelling and working in New Zealand many times. Yet no matter how often I visit, the breathtaking allure of Paua Shell never fails to inspire me.

Each piece is a unique masterpiece, shaped by Mother Nature — no two pieces are alike, making every one truly special. Paua Shell’s magic lies not only in its vivid, iridescent beauty but also in its wonderful affordability, making it accessible to all who appreciate its charm.

Every piece in our collection is lovingly handcrafted by me, using sustainably sourced Paua Shell from the South Island of New Zealand.

Harvesting Paua in New Zealand is strictly controlled under a regulated quota system to ensure long term sustainability. Divers must collect Paua by free diving only — the use of breathing apparatus is prohibited — and in most areas, Paua must reach a minimum size of 125mm to ensure healthy, sustainable populations.
